Story 8: The Assyrian & Babylonian Exiles (721/ 587 BC)
as told in 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles 10-36, Micah, Jeremiah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Ezekiel, and Isaiah 40-55

It was the prophets who would announce doom and gloom to the kings and to the people for their lip service to God, mixing in false gods into their worship, and falling deeper into a corruption that only widened the separation of the rich from the poor and the needy. To drive his point home, God uses empire after empire to come and wipe out the kingdoms, first the North, then the South, leaving the people scattered. Not everything in the prophet's message is doom and gloom. In their prophecies is also found a message of hope, a promise that one day they would return to their promised land, complete with a new king just like David.
