Story 7: The Divided Kingdom (931 BC)
as told in 1&2 Kings, 2 Chronicles 1-9, Proverbs, and Isaiah 1-39

While David gave God's people the city they could their holy headquarters, it was his son Solomon who would build the great Temple to further centralize the worship of the one God they followed. Our seventh story begins with Solomon, the wisest of all kings, to whom many wisdom writings are attributed. Unfortunately, our seventh story also introduces us to some seven hundred of his wives, which end up dividing his attention, and consequently dividing the kingdom itself, north and south. The two kingdoms end up with their own separate kings, some good and some bad, as they succeed or fail in following God's will as reminded through His prophets again and again. Our seventh story begins.
