Story 3: The Exodus (1250 BC)
as told in Exodus and Numbers

Our third story finds us several generations removed from the patriarchs in the previous story. At this point a new pharaoh has enslaved God's people and they cry out. God calls Moses and reveals Himself to be the same God of his ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (It was Jacob who wrestled God in our last story and was given the name Israel). Moses eventually comes to be known as God's prophet, or spokesperson, as well as being the great lawgiver and more - the friend of God. From slavery to freedom, to the establishing of some rules - rules that are quickly broken - our third story begins.
